Best way to scan receipts

Camera tips

1. Lay the receipt flat on a solid-colour surface (not on a patterned tablecloth).
2. Use good lighting — avoid harsh shadows or glare from overhead lights.
3. Hold steady or place the phone directly above the receipt.
4. Fill the frame — the receipt should take up most of the image.
5. Capture the full receipt including the top and bottom edges.

What helps accuracy

• High contrast between text and paper (dark ink on white paper).
• Receipt is not crumpled or folded.
• Font is standard print — handwritten or dot-matrix receipts reduce accuracy.

If items are missing

• Try Improve with AI mode for better parsing of complex receipts.
• Manually add missing items after scanning.
